Two specialisations

PLANET Europe is a collaborative programme taught over 2 years (4 Semesters) to a value of 120 ECs - European Credits. It is offered jointly by two universities: Radboud University Nijmegen (RU) and Cardiff University (CU).

All students start with a comprehensive introduction to the European dimension of spatial planning and the spatial impacts of EU policies in semester 1 at the RU in Nijmegen.

During semester 2, PLANET Europe offers students the choice of deepening their knowledge in an area of special relevance to European spatial planning and EU policy more generally. Prospective students need to choose their specialisation track during the application process and they have the following two options:

  • European Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development (RU/CU- track)
  • Environmental and Social Sciences and Sustainable Development (RU/CU - track)

In semester 3, students apply their knowledge to planning practice and receive further training on cross-national communication and presentation skills. Students complete their studies with an individual Master thesis on a topic of their choice under joint supervision from experts from two of the universities.

Students will graduate from this integrated Masters programme with a double degree: one from Radboud University Nijmegen and one from Cardiff University.
