Timothy Anderson (America)

"I spent the majority of my undergraduate degree looking at the results of planning practices and development strategies around Europe, but until now never had the chance to truly understand the inner workings of European Union planning or come to terms with the motivations and strategies behind EU policies. I believe that the future of internal European politics and international relations hinges largely on how effective EU-level development and integration initiatives are, and this Spatial Planning programme will give me a way to explore these topics in great depth. While I am still in the early stages of my studies in Nijmegen, I have already gained a foundation for my future work and have made many great friends along the way. The experience of living abroad with such a diverse and passionate group of students is fantastic. I am excited and looking forward to where the next two years will take me.
The Planet Europe programme provides the perfect environment for my growth as a student, a researcher, and a European resident. More than anything else, however, I am driven by a desire to understand the world around me and give back in any way I can. Through this programme, I expect to gain the knowledge and the skills necessary to secure a job in regional development or planning where I can make a difference in the lives of others and shape the way that individuals interact with the spaces around them."
